Pontotoc County Public Safety Center

Pontotoc County has a comprehensive emergency management plan, which mirrors both the Mississippi and National Response Plans.  Using a four cycle, the plan is tested each year to ensure that every emergency support function is tested and ready.  So please be patient with us as we conduct drills and exercises.

Emergency Management works closely with Pontotoc County Sheriff Department in conducting lost/missing person searches, evidence location, and  diving operations.  Team members are required to complete extensive training in these areas in order to provide our citizens with a capable search and rescue organization.

We encourage each of our citizens to use the information on this page to become better prepared for all types of emergencies. Find a community tornado shelter near you now and practice going to it. Get a weather radio for your home. Sign up for CodeRED alerts.  Prepare an emergency response kit.  You must be prepared to be self sufficient for at least 72 hours after a disaster.  Please share your plan with all family members.
